Storing jewellery
How you store jewellery is very important. Each piece should have its own box or fabric pouch to prevent pieces rubbing together, scratching or otherwise damaging one another.
Jewellery and cosmetics
Follow one simple rule: put on your jewellery only after applying all cosmetics, creams, perfume and hairspray.
Products can easily get into jewellery, particularly beneath gemstones. Pearls may permanently lose their lustre and some gemstones can be damaged. In some cases, replacing the pearl or stone is the only option.
Sport and physical work
We recommend removing jewellery before sport or demanding physical activity. This helps avoid mechanical and chemical damage: scratched rings, broken chains, and chipped or lost stones.
Cleaning jewellery
You can send jewellery purchased from us for professional cleaning. Contact us first to arrange a safe handover.
For home cleaning of durable diamond jewellery, use lukewarm water with a drop of mild soap. After a short soak, rinse the piece and clean it carefully with a very soft brush. Pay attention to the inside and the openings beneath the stones, where dirt tends to build up. Rinse with clean water and dry with a soft cloth.
This method is not universal. Do not soak pearls or delicate or treated gemstones without advice specific to the stone. Avoid harsh chemicals and cleaning products. If you are unsure, we will be happy to advise you.
Arrange cleaning or an inspectionThree small habits for every day
Grease forms a thin film on stones, reducing light transmission and dulling their sparkle. Diamonds' affinity for grease is even used in certain methods of separating them from rock. Try to touch the stones as little as possible.
Create a jewellery box where pieces are safely separated. You can also organise them by the occasions for which you wear them.
Remove your jewellery at night too. It can catch or become damaged while you sleep without you noticing.
