Lab-grown diamonds

Lab-grown diamonds are created using modern technology in a controlled environment that simulates the conditions found in the Earth's mantle. Their physical, optical, and chemical properties are the same as natural diamonds. However, their price is dramatically lower.

What kind of lab-grown diamonds do we use?

For lab-grown diamonds, we mainly check their characteristic features that indicate they were created in a lab. As with natural diamonds, our standard is at least VS clarity and E color, which is a very important parameter, especially for smaller stones.

How are lab-grown diamonds created?

They are created by the production methods CVD (Chemical vapor deposition) and HPHT (high pressure high temperature). Each method has its own characteristic features, which are hidden in the diamond crystal. They can be distinguished with the help of special gemological equipment.

Interesting facts and figures

1. The first man-made diamonds were produced by General Electric in the late 1950s.

2. Lab-created, clear, gem-quality diamonds were finally perfected earlier this decade with a very high-quality (Type lla) colorless stone produced in 2012.

3. You will not be able to tell the difference between a lab-grown diamond and a natural diamond with your naked eye.

4. Lab-grown diamonds have the same natural imperfections as natural diamonds due to their growth formation. In addition, they also have the same different shades of color.

5. Lab-created diamonds are 100% crystallized carbon.

6. Lab-grown diamonds offer a more environmentally friendly approach in the near future. This has become an important criterion for some customers.

7. By 2026, global production of lab-grown diamonds is expected to exceed 20 million carats to meet demand.

8. Lab-grown diamonds are not diamond simulants. Diamond simulants are stones that look like diamonds but do not have the same properties. The three most common diamond simulants are: cubic zirconia, moissanite, and white sapphire.

9. In general, lab-grown diamonds are more affordable than mined diamonds.

10. 80% of millennials expressed agreement with the idea of lab-grown diamonds.

Lab-created diamonds are undoubtedly beautiful and affordable.

Lab-Ground Diamond Evaluation

Cut diamonds are graded according to the strict international criteria of the 4C scale, which determines the overall quality of a diamond and defines its precise parameters.
